    This unsettled period of weather is bringing variable conditions to the mountain, making any high alpine travel challenging. Conditions in this phase of winter on the mountain require all users to practice caution. Remembering any fall or small avalanche in this shallow-season snowpack will have poor outcomes. Take the opportunity to practice rescue techniques on lower evaluation slopes, whether it's avalanche rescue or self-arrest practice, utilize the time to reconfirm your skills or learn new ones

Current Snowpack Conditions

A well-consolidated snow pack exists across the mountain due to the moisture present in the snow combined with strong overnight freezes. Gully systems are at threshold above 1600m with ridge tops and exposed slopes being mixed grade between snow, ice, and rock.

Mountain Weather

Strong South Easterly winds rising to gale on the mountain, with the odd scattered shower on Friday. Freezing level is hovering around the 1600m mark

Challenging climbing conditions with firm conditions, care is needed as falls at this time of year could have poor consequences.
