Stiff, hollow-feeling slabs on easterly-facing slopes near and above treeline remain problematic. Many slopes are thin and scoured, so the most likely places to trigger an avalanche are also the ones holding the most snow. Use caution or simply avoid any steep, wind-drifted slope. Recent human-triggered avalanches are clear evidence of this lingering hazard. Stick to softer, cohesionless snow in more wind-sheltered areas to help stay safe.
