Lo esencial

The snowpack is mostly stable. In steep terrain near cliff areas and along high ridge crests, hazard may still exist in the form of loose snow sluffs or isolated pockets of soft slabs to twelve inch depths. A skier triggered such a slide entering a chute in Jensen Canyon yesterday and similar events could occur today in extreme terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Cloud cover is expected to increase overnight bringing a chance for light, scattered snow showers tonight and into tomorrow. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the single digits before rising into the low teens during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 5 to 15 miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW on Sunday. Backcountry travelers venturing into very steep avalanche prone terrain might be able to trigger isolated pockets of surface slab up to 12 inches deep. These slides would likely be small, but could pose a threat to skiers and riders on slopes above cliff bands or terrain traps. Low hazard does not mean no hazard and standard backcountry protocol should still be used.
