Lo esencial
At the mid and upper elevations areas of unstable snow exist in steep starting zones and cliff areas loaded by west and southwest winds. In these areas pockets of soft slab up to one foot in depth have formed and dense old slabs up to two feet in depth which formed over a week ago persist. These slabs could be triggered by backcountry users. The old dense slabs that lie upon a basal layer of weak faceted October snow could be crossed more than once before being triggered. At the lower elevations the snowpack is shallow and avalanches are unlikely.
