Avalanche Summary

Watch for small areas of wind-drifted snow on north through east to southeast-facing slopes near the ridgetop. Strong winds on Monday formed drifts over a foot deep in places. You can trigger an avalanche where you find dry, drifted snow resting on a firm crust. Cracking in the snow is a sign that you could trigger an avalanche.

Any avalanche you trigger will be small, but small avalanches can be problematic in extreme terrain, such as snowfields above cliffs or steep and rocky chutes and couloirs. Go around suspect drifts and include multiple options in your trip plan in case you can't. Choose lower-angle or wind-sheltered slopes for safer riding.
