Lo esencial

The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE at the Mid and Upper elevations. Strong Southwest winds and up to six inches of heavy, new snow have created easily triggered soft slabs to a foot in depth in lee areas below ridges and in cross loaded gulleys. Below the new snow are slabs to two feet in depth from the past week. All of this snow sits on weak, faceted snow on sun and melt-freeze crusts. Yesterday skiers triggered a significant slide from below in the Mail Cabin area West of Teton Pass. Large, natural slides pulled out in several areas with the last good snowfall and today's new load will likely bring similar events. Most, but not all, of the events have been on steeper slopes with Northeast to Southeast aspects. Use good route finding skills today and ski or ride in the trees. The Hazard at Low elevations is LOW today where the snowpack is thin and less snow has fallen.
