The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW this morning and will rise to MODERATE by mid day as warm temperatures and possible rain showers soften the snow surface. Three weeks of consecutive melt-freeze cycles have led to a well consolidated snowpack that is mostly stable when frozen but warm overnight temperatures will allow crusts to rapidly soften. The potential for wet slides to occur on steep, snow-covered slopes will increase proportionally to the amount of daily warming or rain. At the lower elevations most sunlit aspects are bare.

Winter weather will continue Tuesday night into Wednesday with cooler temperatures and snowfall. Several inches of new snow are possible at upper elevations by Tuesday evening with highs only in the low teens. Ridge top winds will be southerly at 10 to 15 miles per hour overnight then veer to northwesterly at 20 mph during the day Wednesday.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning as old snow will have well frozen melt-freeze crusts. The hazard may rise to MODERATE if sufficient new snow and wind create large enough drifts to be of concern on steep, lee slopes at upper elevations.
