Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain stable. Aspects exposed to the sun will soften as the day progresses with shaded aspects remaining firm. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be dry with South-Easterly winds throughout the forecast period. Overnight winds will be light with the freezing level around 600 metres. The day will be sunny with winds increasing to gale force at higher elevations by the end of the day as summit temperatures reach plus 1 celsius. Observed Weather Influences: A dry bright day with light South-Westerly winds and a freezing level close to the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The isothermal snowpack is stable and slowly depleting. There is a firm surface crust on shaded aspects. North and East aspects above 700 metres retain the greatest accumulations of snow. South and West facing features hold less snow due to wind scouring and the effects of the sun. The avalanche hazard is Low.
