Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will remain above all summits. After a dry night, light rain is expected during the day, especially through the afternoon, when some sleet or wet snow is possible on the highest summits. Winds will be light East-South-Easterly overnight, strengthening to be moderate to strong South-Easterly during the day and veering South-Westerly during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry mild day, with the freezing level above the summits. Winds were light to moderate mainly South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to thaw and consolidate at all levels, and is generally stable. Remaining cornices are prone to collapse. Greatest accumulations of snow are on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
