Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will remain well bonded and stable in all locations. Isolated areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop later in the afternoon. These deposits will mainly affect steep wind sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 850 metres and are not expected to be deep or extensive. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A dry start to the day, showers from about midday will initially be rain at all levels turning to snow above 600 metres as the afternoon progresses. Strong South-Westerly winds will veer Westerly in the afternoon. The freezing level will be above all summits for the morning, dropping to around 700 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A day of constant drizzle with strong West-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was above all summits. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snowpack is continuing to thaw, consolidate and diminish. Stability is good in all locations. Any remaining cornices are prone to collapse. Greatest snow accumulations remain in North to East facing corries and gullies above 850 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
