Forecast Snow Stability: The limited snowpack which mainly exists in the higher Northerly and Easterly corries will be soft and moist initially, a return to cooler conditions by morning will start to firm up slopes at highest levels. Snowpack stability will generally be good. Isolated pockets of soft new snow will be mainly avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: It will be mainly dry but a trace of new snow will fall on the higher tops through the morning. Amounts of new snow are not expected to be significant. Winds will be fresh occasionally strong, generally North-Westerly. It will be mild overnight, by morning the freezing level will lower to around 1000 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Mild conditions with rain and light drizzle at all levels have affected the area today. Winds have been generally Southerly fresh. Daytime summit temperatures were around 4 degrees Centigrade. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack, which is mainly to be found in the higher North and East facing corries, is moist with generally good stability. A degree of firming initially occurred on the very highest slopes, softening later with rising daytime temperatures and rain. The avalanche hazard is Low.
