Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to consolidate on all aspects and at all levels. Localised instabilities will persist in the recently deposited windslab, mainly on West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Cornices above these aspects will be prone to collapse. Some surface wet snow instabilities are possible on steep slopes during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It is expected to be dry throughout the period, with the freezing level above the summits. Winds will be generally Southerly, gale force overnight and moderate to strong during the day. Observed Weather Influences: It was a bright dry day, with light to moderate Southerly winds. The freezing level rose to around 1100 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to consolidate on all aspects and at all levels. Localised instabilities remain in the recently deposited windslab, mainly on West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Cornices above these aspects are unstable and prone to collapse. During the day the hard surface of the snowpack softened where exposed to the direct effects of the sun. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
