Avalanche Activity

Along the border with Switzerland Wind slabs at elevated altitudes.

Along the border with Switzerland The more recent wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes and generally in high Alpine regions. This applies in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, as well as on wind-loaded slopes especially above approximately 2400 m.

Snowpack Structure

In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack on wind-loaded slopes. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to consolidation of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
