Lo esencial

The general avalanche danger is LOW today. 'Low' danger does not mean 'no' danger. As winds increase throughout the day, small isolated pockets of slab may be found in steep terrain at the highest elevations. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations, which lack sufficient coverage for an avalanche rating. Early season conditions exist at all elevations, and the main hazard for backcountry travelers remains the shallow snow depths.

Avalanche Discussion

High pressure will continue to dominate the region as a weak weather system passes to the north of the forecast area. No measurable snowfall is expected from this system. Tomorrow will be another warm and windy day. Mountain temperatures are expected to rise into the mid to upper thirties and valleys into the forties. Westerly winds will increase throughout the day with ridgetop speeds at 20 to 25 MPH gusting into the forties. Warm temperatures and no snowfall have continued to stabilize the snowpack. In areas where there is enough snow to travel, the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. The main hazard for backcountry travelers remains the shallow snow depths. For Monday, the avalanche danger will be Low above 8,500 feet and no rating below that elevation due to the lack of snow.
