Persistent slabs rest upon weak, faceted snow and hard snow surfaces. These slabs, with depths up to three feet at the mid and upper elevations and around a foot deep at the lower elevations, could be triggered by skiers and riders in steep, avalanche prone terrain. These slabs will become more susceptible to failure later in the day if significant loading occurs. Some steep slopes may be crossed multiple times before a weak spot is encountered causing failure of the slope.

At the mid and upper elevations, isolated pockets of wind slab could reach depths of six to twelve inches by this evening if snowfall continues through the day. As these slabs build, they could be easily triggered in steep, wind loaded terrain.
