The snowpack is mostly stable and the general avalanche hazard is LOW. Low hazard does not mean no hazard exists. Isolated pockets of recently formed wind slabs could be triggered at the mid and high elevations with depths of four to twelve inches on steep loaded slopes. Even these small slabs could knock someone off of their feet and carry consequences in terrain that has exposure to cliffs or obstacles.

This pattern of snow showers is to continue through Saturday. Accumulations will remain light with one to four inches of additional snow expected. Temperatures will remain cool with mountain temperatures starting in the single digits and rising into the upper teens. Winds are to remain light and back from the west to the east by Saturday afternoon. The general avalanche hazard will be LOW in the Teton and Togwotee Pass areas. Above 8000 feet in isolated areas, pockets of surface slab could be triggered in wind loaded areas. These slabs could have depths to twelve inches.UPDATE: In the Togwotee Pass area, the hazard will be rated as Moderate. Although unlikely, a slight chance exists to trigger large avalanches that lie upon old buried weak layers in isolated areas.
