Avalanche Summary

Although generally safe avalanche conditions exist, Low danger does not mean there is no danger. The few slopes where you might be able to trigger an avalanche are where you find a cohesive slab of wind-drifted snow on slopes facing northwest through north to east at upper elevations near and above treeline. If you travel on steep slopes that face these directions you can increase your safety margins by avoiding shallow spots on a slope such as convex rollovers, rock outcrops on otherwise smooth planar slopes, and steer clear of any wind-loaded slopes just below ridgelines and around rock outcrops that face aspects of concern.

If you notice your feet, skis, or machine sinking deep into wet snow you might be able to trigger a loose avalanche and should avoid steep slopes with terrain traps such as a cliff or creek below you.
