Lo esencial

At the mid and upper elevations unstable wind slabs exist on steep slopes and can be triggered by the weight of a single person. These slabs were easily triggered yesterday and have enough size and volume to seriously injure and bury humans. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

Unstable wind slabs formed by southwest to northwest winds lie upon slick old snow surfaces. These slabs can be triggered to depths of two feet by skiers and riders who venture onto steep slopes. Sunshine and warming temperatures may increase the sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers.

Avalanche Discussion

Cloudy skies with increasing snow showers are expected. Accumulations of several inches are possible at the highest elevations. Cold conditions will prevail with temperatures in the teens and 20s. Winds will be light and variable. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the mid and upper elevations. Winds slabs up to two feet in depth persist on steep slopes and could be triggered by people who venture onto them.
