Yesterday two skiers were caught but not injured in slides on Cody Peak and No Name canyon. The recent storm developed slabs to four feet in depth on lee slopes at the higher ridgecrests. The dense new snow came in on light density older snow creating a weakly supported layer. Areas of instability await the unwary backcountry traveler today. As the snowpack settles larger triggers like the second or later person on a slope may release a slide. At Low elevations the snow is mostly stable.
