Lo esencial

Six to Ten inches of new snow with westerly winds have created soft slabs to two feet in depth on lee slopes at mid and upper elevations. Under the new snow, older slabs to three feet in depth lie upon a weak layer of surface hoar and faceted snow. The new snowload on these weak layers will increase the chance of triggering a slide. Yesterday a skier was partially buried in a slide on a steep, north northeast slope in the Mail Cabin drainage west of Teton Pass.
