Avalanche Activity

CM for 03/01/22 Mod hazard. Only where new windslab achieves depth on NE to S aspects above 900m.

Forecast Snow Stability: Early thin, humid windslab development expected West to North aspects above 950m. Later cold, softer, windslab will form on steep North-East to South aspects above 900m; poorer stability in these places but only where windslab achieves depth, mainly at gully exits and steep coire rims. Minor new cornice development above steepest lees slopes. Good stability in all other locations and altitudes. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Sleety snow showers overnight then much colder with snowfall down to most altitudes during the early morning. Strong West-South-West winds but easing quickly during the day and becoming West-North-West, later North. Observed Weather Influences: Wet for a time overnight and during the morning but cold enough for a trace of snow above 900m. Moderate to strong SW winds with occasional much stronger squalls. ObservedSnowStability: Very patchy snowpack comprised of sparsely distributed patches and ribbons of moist, firm old snow above 850m. Areas above 900m have a cosmetic very thin cover of new snow. Good stability in all locations. The avalanche hazard is Low
