The general avalanche hazard is LOW this morning but will quickly rise to CONSIDERABLE this afternoon as already warm temperatures rise into the forties and morning sun followed by rain further weakens the snowpack. Once this occurs, dense or possibly wet surface slabs to depths of two feet could be triggered by skiers or riders or falling cornices in steep wind loaded terrain above 9000 feet. Natural wet slides will also be possible below 9000 feet in very steep avalanche terrain this afternoon.

On Saturday the next system should impact the area bringing a mix of snow and rain. Mountain temperatures should reach into the upper thirties as the snow develops. Winds are to be southwesterly with fifteen to twenty mile per hour averages.During the morning, the general avalanche hazard will be Low in the generally stable snowpack. By the afternoon the hazard will rise to Moderate as warming temperatures and possible morning sun soften the hard snow surface providing the chance to trigger dense slabs to two foot depths in very steep terrain above 9000 feet and for the possibility of wet slide activity at all elevations.
