Lo esencial

In isolated areas at the high elevations a chance remains to trigger slabs to two foot depths on very steep avalanche prone slopes that face northerly. A shallow and stable snowpack exists at the low and mid elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

A cold front will move through the area on Sunday bringing a chance for some light snowfall, especially east of the divide. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the low single digits and a few degrees warmer in the valley before rising to near 10 up high and into the upper teens down low. Northwesterly ridgetop winds will veer to the northeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE on shaded slopes above 9000 feet. There, backcountry travelers could trigger slabs to two feet in depth in very steep, active avalanche paths. Elsewhere, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW and avalanches are unlikely in the stable, shallow, early season snowpack.
