Lo esencial

Yesterday a deep hard slab avalanche was triggered on approach on a steep east aspect of Angle Mountain west of Togwotee Pass. This dangerous slab avalanche failed on a buried weak layer of faceted snow and a November rain crust. The potential for similar events to be human triggered in the Teton Range persists on a variety of aspects. Pockets of soft surface slab up to two feet in depth also present a hazard to humans who venture into steep cliff areas and steep avalanche avalanche prone terrain with fresh deposits of wind drifted snow. Conservative decisions regarding terrain selection are warranted.
