Lo esencial

A few inches of new snow and wind from the Northwest will create shallow Wind Slabs directly below ridgelines on South and East slopes.  These avalanches will be directly proportional to the amount of new snow, and are likely to be quite small.  Throughout the rest of the terrain avalanches are unlikely.

    Forecasts are calling for just a couple of inches of new snow overnight, and the Northwest wind will be Light to Moderate.  While it will be possible to trigger a Wind Slab, those avalanches are likley to be very shallow.  A great metric is that wind deposited snow can be 3-5 times deeper than in sheltered areas.  On Monday be mindful of those start zones that are directly below ridgelines, and may have a large fetch (terrain that snow can blow from).

Avalanche Discussion

This weekend's spring weather, followed by the current cold front, have provided a reset to any instabilities that may have existed previously (those were minimal).  Surface conditions on Sunday morning varied by aspect;  many sunny slopes had a melt-freeze crust.  Any instabilites on Monday will be very shallow with only a few inches of snow in the forecast.  There are no pertinent persistent weak layers.
