Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger.

The fresh wind slabs can be released even by a single winter sport participant in particular on shady slopes above approximately 1800 m. On steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain small and medium-sized slab avalanches are possible. At elevated altitudes the avalanche prone locations are more widespread. Several small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and wind from northerly directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. Snow depths vary greatly above the tree line, depending on the infuence of the wind. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes hardly any snow is lying.

Tendency

Warming.
