Lo esencial

In most areas above 4500 ft in elevation you'll find a generally cohesive snowpack but low coverage, Hidden hazards arise from partially buried vegetation. These hazards can be consequential even without avalanche involvement.

Avalanche Discussion

Low overall snow coverage is leaving a lot of objects at or just under the snow surface. Right now the general current state of the snowpack is soft snow, with minor layers, sitting atop of a widespread crust. This hard rain crust from early December found throughout the range is about 1-1.5 feet deep. Below this crust is mainly consolidated firmer snow from November.

Little recent change in the weather brings overall small change to the snowpack. While the small changes right now are trending towards stability, snow continually changes. Short periods (days) of the current weather will improve stability, longer periods (days ~week) will begin to decrease snowpack strength and structure. Following season history has been likened to reading a novel; keep reading and we will see how the weather and snowpack shape up.
