Forecast Snow Stability: The existing wet snowpack will freeze and consolidate in the colder conditions overnight and will be generally stable. Fresh windslab deposits, mainly on North to East aspects above 800 metres, are expected to be isolated and shallow. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong South-west winds and occasional showers. The freezing level will drop to around 600 metres overnight and then rise to 1000 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Southerly winds and rain at all levels today. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: Wet snow instabilities are present in recent snow, mainly on North to East aspects above 800 metres. On other aspects and at lower elevations the snowpack is thawing but generally stable. Cornices are prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
