Lo esencial

Saturday will feel more like spring than midwinter. As the day warms up and direct sun hits the slopes, small wet loose avalanches will be possible to trigger. Use timing and aspect to limit your exposure to wet loose avalanches.

If you see the surface snow become wet and slushy, triggering a wet loose avalanche in steep terrain will be possible. Avalanches will be small, but it does not take a lot of loose snow moving to knock you off your stance. If you see roller balls and the snow becoming wet/slushy be cautious in steep and committing terrain. The wet loose problem will be more prevelant on slopes in the direct sun, especially during the warmest time of the day.

Avalanche Discussion

We have a generally strong snowpack in central Oregon. There have been no recent reports of avalanches.
