Lo esencial

There was no avalanche activity reported from today.  Tomorrow will bring more of the same.  Wind Slabs are still possible in alpine terrain where there is more soft snow, and the wind is stronger.

Today we had light winds throughout much of the range, and after a warm, partly sunny day there is much less snow to blow around.  Still as  the wind picks up ahead of the next low pressure system Wind Slabs could build on alpine slopes.  I expect them to be shallow and isolated.  Watch for them in the usual spots on North through East facing slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

Last week's storm snow is becoming more of a memory than a reality.   After relatively warm temperatures and sun, expect a variety of surface conditions based on aspect and elevation.  There are still pockets of soft riding, but we haven't been seeing many instabilities in our upper snowpack.  Moving down into the mid and lower snowpack, there aren't any persistent weak layers of concern.
