Lo esencial

Dry loose avalanches will be your primary concern today, on steep slopes >35 degrees.  You may still find some old wind slabs, especially above treeline on leeward aspects.  The snowfall and wind forecasted for the next 24 hours will not increase the avalanche danger much with 1-3" on tap for today.

A dry loose avalanche generally is not going to bury a rider but could push you off your feet or into consequential terrain.   If you observe small, loose snow avalanches fanning out from steep terrain features or around rocks and trees this is a good indicator of how you could influence the uncohesive surface snow.

Avalanche Discussion

Avalanche danger will rise slowly over the next couple of days in the Southern Wallowas.  Snow showers will produce 1-3" today, another 1-2" tonight and 3-6" by Saturday morning.  Winds appear light, under 10 MPH through Friday.
