Avalanche Activity

The hard wind slabs are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack. The avalanche prone locations are rare.

Avalanches can be released, in particular by large loads and reach medium size. This applies in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. Especially transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack are unfavourable. The avalanche prone locations are rare. In addition as the day progresses mostly small wet loose snow avalanches are possible. Caution is to be exercised in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes, and at the base of rock walls.

Snowpack Structure

The gusty wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Hard wind slabs formed. These are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. The weather conditions will give rise to moistening of the snowpack.

Tendency

The high temperatures will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
