Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snow pack will be generally well bonded and stable, becoming firm and icy above around 600 meters. Isolated and shallow deposits of soft fresh snow are likely above 1000 metres, these are expected to be insignificant and easily avoided. Decreasing threat of cornice collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mostly dry during the forecast period with the chance of an isolated snow shower above 700 metres in the afternoon. Gale force East-South-East winds will ease slightly in the afternoon. The freezing level will be around 600 metres. Observed Weather Influences: There were isolated showers during the morning accompanied by very strong to gale force South-Easterly winds. The freezing level went above the summits overnight and returned to around 900 metres during the day. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack stability is generally good. There is soft and thawing snow below 900 metres, firmer and more extensive cover above this altitude. The avalanche hazard is Low.
