Lo esencial

Conditions are generally safe where snowpack surfaces are frozen hard, and avalanches are unlikely. Exercise normal backcountry caution. Watch for isolated pockets of windblown snow at upper elevations & continue to give terrain near or under cornices a wide buffer.

By this evening, there is a chance of triggering a small isolated pocket of windblown snow. Thanks to the direction of the wind (NW), these pockets may form in unexpected areas, build on slick, icy crusts, and run easily. Snow totals look to be around 4-6 inches (on the high end of estimations). Overall, "dust on crust" conditions will be found today.

Avalanche Discussion

The snowpack is generally stable, and avalanches are unlikely. However, continue to use normal backcountry caution: make a plan before heading out, carry the appropriate avalanche safety equipment, and remain alert for unexpected conditions. In other words, keep your wits about you!

Last night's cold front brought light winds from the NW that may create some small, fresh drifts by late today. These just run like loose snow and are likely to be isolated and not particularly reactive. Colder temperatures—both last night and today—should end wet snow problems.
