After Monday's storm doubled the Summit Lake snowack adding 2' of new snow, there was widespread natural avalanche activity indicating the new load was more than the snowpack could handle. Today more snow and wind is adding to that stress creating dangerous conditions. There are several weak layers within the snowpack including weak snow at the ground, which means if an avalanche is triggered it could be very large (could take the entire season's snowpack). This is a day to let the mountains adjust to this new load even if the storm moves out before the sun sets.

Two avalanches on Colorado that look to have released at the ground based on the exposed ground in the start zone.
