CM for 29/12: Localised wet snow instabilities on NW, N to NE aspects above 800m. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Good stability in old patchy accumulations. Some localised, new wet snow instabilities are possible during the day in any new deposits on North-West through North to North-Easterly facing gully heads and around coire rims. New accumulations are not expected to achieve depth. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: It will stay dry and relatively cool overnight before high pressure is replaced by a new frontal system bringing milder and wetter conditions from dawn. The light Southerly airflow will strengthen to gale force SSE accompanied by a mixture of rain, sleet and snow to around 800 metres during the day Observed Weather Influences: A few snow showers early in the period, thereafter it was a fine dry day. Cool on tops with light variable winds. ObservedSnowStability: A light general cover of snow exists above around 400 metres. Fluctuating temperatures have resulted in a rapid consolidation of recent deposits, which although now softening below 800m remains crunchy underfoot. Some deeper accumulations exist above 800 metres. Stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Low.
