Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A cloudy dry day is expected. The freezing level will be above the summits. Winds, mostly Easterly, moderate in strength. Observed Weather Influences: A cloudy but mainly dry day. Mild, with the freezing level above the summits. Winds were light from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snow is well bonded and stable. Greatest amounts are present above 900 metres with North to East facing corries holding most. The avalanche hazard is Low.

Avalanche Activity

SC 31.3.23 Old patchy snow will remain well bonded. Greatest amounts N to E aspects above 900m. Avalanche hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining patchy snow will continue to thaw at all levels but remain well bonded and stable. Greatest amounts will be encountered above 900 metres, especially on the higher mountains of the main Cairngorm plateau area. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
