Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will accumulate in wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 800 metres. These areas will not be extensive with gully tops and corrie rims being most affected. Cornices will begin to build during the day. The existing snowpack will be stable and well bonded. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: After a dry evening, snow will initially fall above 800 metres from the early hours before being confined to the highest summits from midday. Very strong South-Westerly winds will gradually ease. The freezing level will rise from 800 to 1100 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry morning with scattered snow showers above 800 metres in the afternoon. Very strong South-South-Westerly winds with the freezing level at 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: A light dusting of snow is overlying the existing snowpack which continues to consolidate in the cooler temperatures. Greatest accumulations of old snow can be found on North-West through North to North-East aspects above 800 metres. Below this height, any remaining snow patches continues to thaw. The avalanche hazard is Low.
