Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 9,000 feet and LOW below that elevation. At the higher elevations faceted snow lies upon a crust at the base of the snowpack on northerly aspects and is a weak layer. Humans who venture into steep avalanche starting zones could trigger slab avalanches up to two feet deep. At the mid and lower elevations the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely.
