Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and increase to MODERATE as temperatures warm. Low hazard does not mean there is no hazard. In the morning humans who venture into very steep upper elevation avalanche terrain could trigger isolated pockets of dense surface slab up to two feet in depth and loose snow slides. As temperatures rise the potential for humans to trigger larger pockets of surface slab and for wet loose slides to release naturally on sunlit aspects will increase. Recent buildups of overhanging new snow along cornice lines are likely to become unstable and should be avoided as should the slopes beneath these features.

Avalanche Discussion

Mostly clear skies and dry conditions are expected on Monday as high pressure continues to build into the area. Mountain temperatures will rise into the mid 30s as the valley climbs into the upper 40s. Ridgetop winds will be light and variable. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW Monday morning and increase to MODERATE as the day warms. Backcountry travelers venturing into very steep, upper elevation avalanche terrain could trigger isolated pockets of dense surface slab up to two feet in depth. As temperatures rise, these slabs will become more susceptible to failure, along with the chance of wet loose sluffs on steep, sun affected aspects, which will be fairly easy to trigger and could release naturally.
