Lo esencial

Avalanches are unlikely until the sun and warming temperatures weaken the snow surface. At the upper elevations pockets of surface slab up to two feet in depth could be triggered by skiers and riders in isolated terrain features. Wet loose slides and cornice failures are possible after snow surfaces become soft. Big cornice drops could trigger very large deep slab avalanches. Monitor conditions and avoid steep terrain and cornices during the warmest potion of the day.

Avalanche Discussion

Tomorrow will be another warm day. Overnight lows will be in the 20s. Daytime highs will rise into the 30s and 40s. Increasing clouds with rain and snow showers will begin to move towards the area in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 miles per hour. The snowpack will be mostly stable during the early morning hours. Warming temperatures will increase the wet snow avalanche hazard as the day progresses. Deep persistent slab avalanches are still a hazard in the Greys River and Togwotee Pass areas. These dangerous slabs could be triggered by snowmachines or cornice failures. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and increase to MODERATE after snow surfaces soften.
