SC 05.04 New unstable deposits will develop, wind sheltered terrain on NW and N aspects above 900m. Avalanche haz Moderate.
Forecast Snow Stability: Initially a light covering on most aspects but some redistribution of deposits likely as winds increase in strength. New unstable accumulations will develop mainly on North-West and North aspects above 900 metres. Greatest hazard will be found in wind sheltered locations where new deposits develop over older snow ice, mostly corrie rims and gully tops. Older snow will start to refreeze, to become firm and well bonded. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Likely snow showers throughout the day, initially at all levels but possibly becoming wetter at lower levels late afternoon. Winds, light Easterlies at dawn but strengthening during the day from the South-East. Observed Weather Influences: A mild day, around plus 5 degrees Celsius at 930 metres this morning. Generally dry with very light rain at times. Very strong winds from the North-West. ObservedSnowStability: Snow is thawing at all levels with recent superficial cover mostly gone. The majority of the older snow is soft and generally well bonded but minor surface instabilities are possible on steep terrain, mainly South-East to South-West aspects above 950 metres. Greatest cover is found in North to East facing corries. The avalanche hazard is Low.
