Lo esencial

Warm overnight temperatures and rapid warming will create the potential for natural and human triggered wet surface slides at all elevations. Sunlit, steep slopes and their run-outs should be avoided in the afternoon. Observed slides have been started by people near rocky areas or blocks of snow falling from cliffs. Snow and northeast winds Saturday created isolated pockets of dense wind slabs to 12 inches in depth that could be triggered on very steep slopes at upper elevations. The chance of encountering these pockets is greater on the west side of the range where more snow fell.

Avalanche Discussion

A weak system is expected to bring light amounts of snow to western Wyoming on Thursday. Temperatures are to reach the upper twenties in the mountains and the upper thirties at lower elevations following expected below freezing temperatures overnight.During the day, the general avalanche hazard will increase from Low to Moderate in avalanche terrain where the snowpack is softened by sunlight and increasing temperatures. Wet slides will be possible in these weakened areas throughout the forecast zones as will the possibility to trigger hard slabs in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River area on very steep slopes.
