Lo esencial

Above 9000 feet, pockets of wind slab could be human triggered in steep avalanche avalanche starting zones and cliff areas. Some potential may also persist for snowmobilers to trigger deep hard slabs in steep avalanche prone terrain. The snowpack is mostly stable below an elevation of 9,000 feet.

Small pockets of wind slab to two foot depths lie upon old snow surfaces. These slabs could be human triggered in steep upper elevation avalanche starting zones and cliff areas and may become more sensitive as they are weakened by sunlight and increasing temperatures.

Weak layers of faceted snow persist in the snowpack. At the upper elevations some potential may remain for snowmobilers to trigger hard slab avalanches with depths to four feet in steep, avalanche-prone slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A chance for occasional isolated snow shower activity exists into Saturday morning. Thin clouds are to prevail through most of the day with increasing chances for sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures are to rise into the mid to upper twenties at 9000 feet. The general avalanche hazard will remain Moderate above 9000 feet. Wind slabs with depths that could reach two feet in some areas lie on hard snow surfaces. Below 9000 feet the snowpack is stable and avalanche activity is unlikely.
