Lo esencial

As snow surfaces soften, wet loose sluffs will become possible in steep, sunlit terrain. At the upper elevations, daytime warming will also increase the potential for backcountry travelers to trigger isolated pockets of surface slab up to a foot deep. Monitor conditions and avoid steep, avalanche prone terrain during the warmest portion of the day.

Avalanche Discussion

Mountain snow and valley rain will begin Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday morning before tapering during the day. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the mid-20s before rising to near freezing in the afternoon. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will veer to the northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour.Mostly stable snow exists and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Thursday. In isolated area, a remote chance persists for large triggers, such as snowmobiles, to release a hard slab up to three feet deep in very steep, avalanche-prone terrain.
