The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Hard slabs up to five feet in depth lie upon a persistant weak layer of faceted snow. These dangerous slabs retain some potential to be human triggered by snow machines on steep avalanche prone slopes.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A weakening storm moving into the area will bring clouds and an increasing chance for light snow with new snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible in the mountains between late Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Daytime highs will rise to near 20 degrees in the mountains. Ridge crests winds will be south-southwesterly at 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Mostly stable snow exists and avalanches are unlikely.
