Lo esencial

At upper elevations new snow and wind have created soft surface slabs to six inches in depth on steep lee slopes. Backcountry users have the potential to trigger these slabs and isolated pockets of wind slab up to a foot deep including older snow. The greater danger from these slabs or sloughs will be to people in areas where falls may result in injuries due to striking objects or falls from cliffs. Dangerous avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

Conditions will be mostly dry Wednesday with mountain temperatures warming from morning lows in the teens to the low to mid 30s. Ridge crest winds will be southwesterly around 20 miles per hour.Backcountry travelers will find it easy to release soft surface slabs and sloughs to 10 inches deep on very steep, upper elevation slopes. Most of these slides will be harmless but terrain traps or obstacles could make a small slide dangerous. Sunshine may also trigger sloughs. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations with the exception of the possibility of dangerous, hard snow sliding from rooftops as temperatures climb.
