Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a large and dangerous avalanche if you find a shallow spot on a steep slope. The most dangerous slopes face northwest to north through northeast-facing slopes near and above treeline and are steeper than about 35 degrees. Avoid likely trigger points, including slab margins, convex rollovers, and shallowly buried rocks. Multiple tracks on a slope are not an indication of stability, and triggering an avalanche from a distance or below is still possible.

To keep it simple, avoid steep avalanche terrain altogether. Stick to slopes around 30 degrees or less and identify and avoid where the slab might be thinnest.
