Soft slabs up to 18 inches in depth exist at the mid and upper elevations. These slabs lie upon slick crusts and could be triggered on steep wind loaded aspects by backcountry users. At the lower elevations isolated pockets of soft slab up to one foot in depth lie upon a buried layer of surface hoar and have been easily triggered by skiers on steep wind loaded northeast aspects. NUMEROUS SKIERS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT AND SEVERAL HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED SINCE MONDAY. The hazard will increase as temperatures warm. As the day warms the sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers will increase. Wet slides are possible on steep sunlit aspects.
