Avalanche Activity

Over a wide area wind and new snow. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses.

In the course of the day danger level 3 (considerable) will be reached. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and on wind-loaded slopes large and, in isolated cases, very large avalanches are possible as a consequence of the precipitation. Avalanches can be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection.

Snowpack Structure

The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in many places.

Tendency

The weather will be cold over a wide area.
